Commercial videotapes and magazines containing child pornography were also found in his home. In 1988, Salva was convicted of sexual misconduct with one of Clownhouse 's underage stars, who was 12 years old at the time, and videotaping one of the encounters in which he forced the victim to perform oral sex on him. A horror allegory about a young boy awaiting his brother's return from a bloody war, the highly acclaimed film went on to win several national awards (including a Bronze Plaque at the Chicago International Film Festival) and brought Salva to the attention of Francis Ford Coppola, who then produced Salva's first theatrical feature, Clownhouse (1989), which Salva again wrote and directed, with Salva becoming Coppola's protégé. In the mid-1980s, his 37-minute short film Something in the Basement (1986) took first place in the fiction category at the Sony/AFI Home Video Competition. Salva was a child-care worker at some point before becoming a filmmaker. Salva's family disowned him at 18 when he came out as gay to his mother and stepfather. To finance his filmmaking hobby, he often held two jobs during the week. By the time he graduated from high school, Salva had written and directed more than 20 short and feature films. The adolescent Salva was very interested in horror and sci-fi his favorite monster movie was Creature from the Black Lagoon and, in 1975, the local newspaper reported that Salva had sat through Jaws 55 times. His biological father abandoned the family and Salva stated that his stepfather was an alcoholic and physically abusive. This has led to protests against his films, including a boycott of Powder organized by his victim.īorn in Martinez, California, Salva was raised as a Roman Catholic. Salva's filmmaking career has been controversial due to his 1988 conviction for sexually abusing a 12-year-old actor who starred in his feature film debut Clownhouse (1989) and videotaping the encounter, along with possessing child pornography, having been publicised in 2006. Outside of horror, Salva wrote and directed the fantasy-drama film Powder (1995). The self-described protégé of Francis Ford Coppola, he has primarily worked in the horror genre, most notably as the writer-director of the commercially successful Jeepers Creepers (2001) and its sequels Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003) and Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017). The cells that were squished against the axis on the top plots are now off of the axis and are shown as clusters of cells and it is now clear that the data is properly compensated. The plots at the bottom have the display transformation applied. It is worth noting that the cells against the axis are much more obvious on the contour plot. The top plots are the normal display and there are a large number of cells against the x-axis. Is shown as the horizontal line on each plot. All the plots show the data properly compensated. On the left two plots, the data is displayed using 5% contour plots with outliers on the right, pseudocolor plots. The four data plots in the figure below all show the same data. Note that the data is exactly the same, but FlowJo's display transform allows you to view the negative populations as nice symmetrical clusters instead of squished against the axis. FlowJo's display transformation displays your data on an altered scale In the lower regions (first decade) and compress the view of data in the upper regions (fourth decade). This is because log scales expand the view of data The measurement error is the same in uncompensated samples, the variation becomes obvious when a compensated population has a low mean and therefore appears in the low regions of the log scale. The spreading of a population into negative compensated data values is the result of statistical error in measurement that is inherent in the data collected on flow cytometers. It is not possible to display "zero" or negative values. The cells become piled up in the first channel (against the axis) because the fluorescence parameters are displayed on a log scale where When data is properly compensated, it is common that a large number of cells are displayed squished against the axis. FlowJo offers a useful technique called Transformation for visualizing compensated data without producing artifactual peaks or having cells squished against the axes. Fixed an issue with the "Winged Sandals’ weapon charm’s ‘How to Unlock’ text.Increasing recovery times opens the opportunity to weave in secondary fire Kunai more freely. Rather than reduce the amount of healing per projectile, which may lead to feeling locked into focusing on primary fire even more, we’re increasing the recovery time before she can start firing the Healing Ofuda. We’ve seen players tend to get overly focused on maximizing her healing potential and only use primary fire for extended periods of time. Recovery time increased from 0.85 to 1 secondĭeveloper comments: Despite Kiriko’s healing projectiles being slow-moving and single target, her average healing output per match is higher than we’d like. The reduction to primary fire damage will further slow that down as well. Previously, damage boosts and critical damage had an amplified effect for Sojourn since it reduced the time to build energy and lowered the threshold at which her Railgun secondary fire became lethal. Hitting armored targets or other sources of damage reduction will result in quicker energy gains than before. Primary fire damage per projectile reduced from 10 to 9ĭeveloper comments: The energy gain adjustment will help smooth out Sojourn’s average Railgun charge time because it won’t benefit as much from critical damage or damage boost abilities. Each primary fire hit against an enemy player now grants 5 energy Energy gain is no longer based on damage done by primary fire. Its effectiveness will now be more dependent on specific hero matchups and how the hooked target is able to respond. Chain Hook is still a powerful utility to forcibly reposition enemy players, so it will still often lead to eliminations. Reload time reduced from 2 to 1.75 secondsĭeveloper comments: These changes aim to reduce the frustration of dying in one shot immediately after being hooked and pulled by Roadhog.Recovery time reduced from 0.85 to 0.8 seconds.Damage per pellet reduced from 6.6 to 6.The enemy final position distance from Roadhog after being pulled increased from 3 to 4 meters.By increasing the recovery time on her Primary Fire, Blizzard is adding more opportunity to weave in Kunai. A common playstyle of Kiriko was to largely ignore doing damage and largely focus on healing, which Blizzard wants to reduce the effectiveness of. Kiriko has had the effectiveness of her Primary Fire's healing reduced. By also nerfing her Primary Fire damage by 1 point, the effectiveness of damage boosts like Mercy's are further diminished. Blizzard is planning on reworking Roadhog in the future to add more utility to his kit.īlizzard has specifically targeted the effectiveness of damage boosts on Sojourn by changing her Railgun charge to no longer scale with damage, and instead be a flat rate. Blizzard made this change to make him more team-reliant to secure kills, and reduce the frustration from his one-shot combo, adding more counterplay. Roadhog has had his Primary Fire and Chain Hook damage reduced, to reduce his one-shot capabilities. New hotfixes are now live for Overwatch 2, featuring nerfs to Orisa, Roadhog, Sojourn, and Kiriko. Once again there is some great vocal and instrumental arrangement involved. "Black Butter, Past, Present, and Future" make up the last three tracks and are a suite of sorts. They are my personal favorites on the album. But "Pretty Song from Psych-Out" and "Sitting on a Star" are beautiful standouts. "Go Back, You're Going the Wrong Way" is an odd little song, almost as if they were just goofing off. "Sit With the Guru" goes back into single territory, however it didn't chart as well as the previous 45s. "They Saw the Fat One Coming" and "Curse of the Witches" are slower, darker tunes which tell some intriguing stories. "Tomorrow", the first single from the album, continues the happy pop sound with its great moving bass line and instrumentation. But then, "Soft Skies, No Lies" changes everything up with its bouncy feel and sunshine lyrics. This song sounds the most like their first album. "Nightmare of Percussion" kicks off the album with some great drumming, then plenty of instrumental jamming and few vocals. Time signature shifts and jazzy rhythms dominate a few of the songs, and most of the vocals are layered and/or interweaving. It's a fun album! Once again the musicianship is top-notch, but this time the song arrangements are more intricate. Their second album, Wake Up.It's Tomorrow is much more polished and focused. Even so, it showcases the band's fine musicianship, as they rock their way through a lineup of psychedelic tunes celebrating the wonders of acid trips and other aspects of '60s life. Their first album, which was named after their hit song, has a somewhat raw live sound to it, mostly due to it's hasty assembly and release. They released four albums in the late '60s, the first two of which are excellent. Ah, but there was so much more to them than that #1 hit song from 1967. To so many people, the Strawberry Alarm Clock was nothing more than a one-hit wonder who put out that "Incense and Peppermints" song, which was featured in the first Austin Powers flick.
